So Blessed!

Happy Holidays to everyone!  Sorry it has been a while since I have written to everyone.  Chris and I had a wonderful Christmas spending time with our family.  Courtney, my sister, came into town from Charlotte, N.C. and she got a chance to stay with us for a week.  Both of Chris's sisters came into town.  Sherry, her husband, and their four children stayed for one week in Williamsburg.  Susan, her husband, and their three children (and one on the way) are staying with us for two weeks.  We have had a blast spending time together and shopping.  Speaking of shopping, I got a chance to register at Babies R Us and Baby Depot (in Burlington Coat Factory) with my sister, mom, and my cousin April.  On Christmas Eve my sister in law, Susan, gave me an early Christmas present... you can see it in the picture.  If you can't see it, the shirt says, "Silent Night... Not for Long!".  I will upload six months pregnancy pictures next as well as some baby presents we have gotten so far!

6 Months!

Hello everyone!  I have reached the 24 week mark!  It's going by so fast.  Everything went very well with the doctor.  I am measuring in the normal range and my weight is good so far.  I feel good and I still have energy.  Baby Obo has been doing a lot of somersaults lately.  I can definitely feel him kick and move around now and it's an awesome feeling.   My students now take turns reading to the baby.  Chris and I are preparing for family members who are coming in next weekend and the following week.  We can't wait to spend time with our sisters and family.  Stay tuned for some pictures!

Almost Five and a Half Months!

Hey everyone!  We just wanted to give you an update!  Things are going very well.  I feel very good... starting to get big!  I have a lot of energy, but my feet are starting to bother me.  So far I have enjoyed the second trimester much more than the first.  We still haven't decided on a name for our little boy, but we have some time.  I went shopping today at Baby Depot and it was a lot less stressful since we now know we are having a boy.  I saw a lot of things that I loved.  I haven't found any bedding that I like, so the search is still going on.  I also went to BJs and purchased our first of many boxes of diapers and wipes.
Thank you for reading and we hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoys time with their families.  We are very thankful for our families (the Schuberts and the Owenbys) and our little one on the way.

IT'S A BOY!!

It's a boy!  I know we said that we weren't going to find out, but we changed our minds!  We had the ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday afternoon and it felt like the day took forever.  To include my students, I had them make predictions on what they thought the baby would be on Wednesday morning.  Most of the boys wanted the baby to be a boy and the girls of course wanted the baby to be a girl.  As I pulled into the parking lot of the doctor's office, I looked over and saw the Breedens!  We both had appointments at the same time!  It was great talking to them in the office since Chris and I were both so nervous and EXCITED!  The tech was checking the baby's brain, heart, and spinal cord developments and everything measured perfectly.  While she was looking at the spine, the baby arched his back and Chris started to point to the screen.  He got so excited and started pumping his arms.  I didn't know what Chris was getting so excited about and then the tech told us we were having a boy!  Wow, I can't describe the feeling when she told us.  I thought it was a boy at the start of the pregnancy, but then started to think it was a girl.  I thought for sure she was going to say a girl until Chris started to "point things out."  So far we have a health baby boy and the measurements came out normal.  As of right now, the baby weighs 11 ounces.  After we found out, we bought some balloons that you see Chris displaying at the top (Yes, I was around balloons!  For those of you who don't know, I have a fear of balloons!).  We went to my parents house to tell them the news.  When I brought the balloons in, my parents were SO excited.  They kept repeating, "You're having a boy?!?!"  Finally, we have a boy on my side of the family so it's weird to hear about a boy!  We called my sister and she was extremely excited.... she said it was a boy from the beginning.  We also called Chris's parents and sisters to tell them.  They were excited as well.  The next day I took the balloons to school and put them next to the white board where the students had their morning assignment written.  It was awesome to see their expressions as they came in to see that the baby is a boy.  A lot of them even commented on the fact that I had the balloons in the room and I wasn't freaking out!  Thank you for reading this long blog.  God is awesome and we give Him praise for the wonderful news!  Thank you for your prayers and thoughts and God bless!

Jimmie Johnson Fans!

Our two cats, Jimmie Jay and Jack, are enjoying our new blanket.  Yesterday I went to a craft show in Hilton and I bought a very large Jimmie Johnson blanket!  I put the blanket in the floor to see how big it is and the cats started to lay on it!  Little do they know that they are going to be fighting for attention in a couple of months with the new addition to the family!

The Noland Trail

This past Friday, Carrie B. (who is also pregnant; check out her blog link "Adventures with baby Breeden") and I had the day off and decided to walk the Noland Trail.  It was a great day for a walk and the weather was perfect.  The leaves were just starting to turn color and it was beautiful.  After the 5 mile walk, we went to Red Robin for hamburgers since Carrie had never eaten there.  The hamburgers were awesome and just what we needed after the walk!

4 Months Pictures

Here I am at 4 months and two weeks! I can't believe I am almost at the half way point of 20 weeks.  On October 28 I will be 18 weeks!

Four Months!

Hello all!  Sorry it has been a while, but I promise I will update more often!  Chris and I went to the doctor for the four month appointment about a week ago.  We got to hear the baby's heartbeat and it was in the low 150s which is normal.  I have gained 3 pounds so far in the pregnancy and the doctor said that I need to gain 4 more pounds by the fifth month appointment which averages to 1 pound per week.  I am out of the first trimester and well into the second; however, I am still feeling nauseated.  It has gone from every night between 8 and 8:30 to about three times per week usually occurring on Saturdays and Sundays.  We are scheduled for a fifth month ultrasound where the ultrasound tech will check the measurements of the baby.  We can also find out the gender of the baby.  Chris and I are now thinking about finding out!  As of right now we haven't made a decision, but we have one more week to decide.
I am feeling a lot better and my appetite is coming back.  If I'm feeling well, I can eat a small meal or snack every two to three hours.  I have been working out at the Y, but the doctor said to cut back a little bit since I was doing too much.  She mentioned staying with activities I was doing before I was pregnant which was step classes three times a week. Therefore, I plan on just working out three times a week.  So far I love being pregnant and I can't wait until Chris and I get to see the baby in a week.
A week ago we visited Babies R Us with my parents and it was an experience!  It was very overwhelming to look at all of the items a baby will need.  We have no idea for a theme for the nursery, especially since we may not find out the gender of the baby.  If any one has ANY suggestions for a nursery I am open to any ideas.  We liked a bedding set called Countryside Bedding that included sheep, chicks, and cows.  I love the colors because they are neutral (green, brown, red, and cream).  We will keep looking at other places to compare and then decide.
This past Thursday Chris and I visited Riverside Hospital for their labor and delivery tour.  It was a good visit and we enjoyed the tour.  The nurses answered a lot of questions we had prior to the tour so we were glad we attended.  We are going to visit Mary Immaculate next.
I will post new pictures soon, so be on the look out!

Three Month Mom-to-Be Pictures

Here I am at three months!  I can't fit into a lot of my pants now and I'm very uncomfortable.  So, today I went to Motherhood Maternity (thanks April :0)) to buy some new pants for work, 2 dresses, and some jeans to relax in.  You can definitely see a "bump" from the side and I'm only three months.

Three Month Ultrasound Pictures

Here are more three month ultrasound pictures.  You can see the baby's hands, legs, and a foot.  While the doctor was doing the ultrasound, the baby kept bringing it's legs up to it's chest and then kicked them out straight.  The doctor timed it just right and got a good shot of the legs.

Ultrasound Picture-2 Months

Here is our peanut!  The ultrasound picture was taken on August 19th.

We are expecting!

On July 22, 2008 we found out that we are expecting!  We are very excited and a little nervous.  As of right now I am 13 weeks and 4 days and the projected due date is March 30th!  The picture above shows the baby from a profile view.  The head is on the right and at the top you can see the spinal cord.  My mom's birthday is April 1st and my mother-in-law's birthday is March 28th!  We have great timing.  I have had 3 ultrasounds and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time on Wednesday, September 17th.  It was amazing to see the baby moving around and flipping all over the place.  The glucose syrup may have had something to do with it since I was getting tested for gestational diabetes.  I think we may have a future gymnast or diver.  As of right now, Chris and I have decided not to find out the sex of the baby.  We told the doctor our decision and she marked it in my chart.  My next appointment will be October 14th and I will be 16 weeks (4 months).  I have been battling morning sickness (all day is more like it) and I feel really tired.  I am really looking forward to the second trimester.  I believe I have one or two more weeks, but I have one more week of work until we have our intersession break at our school.  I can use the rest!  Chris and I cannot wait until we meet our little one and we wanted to share our news and updates about our baby with family and friends.  Please visit the site often and feel free to contact us.  We would love to hear from you and thank you for keeping us in your prayers!
